The Beanery

Once when were able to travel to Balanga City, Bataan for a National Tertiary Press Conference, it wasn't going to be all competition and work of course when in a new place we find sites and of course you guessed it right...we search for mouth-watering food finds. The never ending thirst to search for a great restaurant and lead us to the discovery of The Beanery, this place may not have the well-known brand of its veteran counterparts but boy is the menu good and the food scrumptious and the ambiance picture-perfect. I was really glad we had went for a stroll at Capitol drive in Balanga, Bataan and that's where we made the golden discovery! Ordering at the coffee shop was hard-time in the sense that I wanted to order it all but well I had to restrain myself. But I was still so glad that the coffee shop carried a standard pricing like those of otehr coffee shops. i guess a 110 to 300 pesos spending is the minimum requirement for happiness and an entrance to food heaven.

And if you are seeing those two photographs above you would realize how tasty they have must been well they do. The fluffy texture and creamy puffiness plus made all better by the honey and cherry adding to its wonderful taste.
Other than the tasty waffle we added to our feast a cordon bleu meal with carbonara topped with olives on the side. And as good as its waffle counterart it did not fail to impress. The cordon bleu was served crisp and hot from the kitchen; teh ham in it with the cheese left a bite of melting-goodness and the pasta well the look and smell of it assured my tongue and stomach a great meal altogether.
I hope to return to bataan and one day dine at The beanery once again
..and I hope many of you will get a chance to drop by and dine as well!

Go to place: The Old Spaghetti House

The Old Spaghetti House is one of my ultimate go to restaurants
because every since i discovered this food haven years back, it yet to disappoint me. Let's just say that the greatest feature of the restaurant best great food is there family-oriented service.
Eating at The Old Spaghetti House is like at home but with food service. The menu for one is great, with loads of pastas, pastries and delicious juices and shakes. When ever I eat there with my parents its like an extension of our home because the cozy environment it offers. It allows us to lounge over delightful feasts and good and long conversations.
And by referring to good feasts I am talking about their trio treats which is our favorite order since it has bits of everything like the classic spaghetti which has rich tomato sauce flavor topped with monster sized meatballs. Another plate includes the garlic chicken sticks which is basically chicken meat wrapped in golden crisp bread crumbs topped with bits of parsley. Lastly, thin slices of the classic favorite pepperoni and cheese pizza! Even by just writing the whole food experience makes me drool as a type along and hallucinate about eating at the restaurant.

Beverage Discovery

During one of the moments I was able to hang-out with my friends in Manila they pleasantly introduced me to a good place called Chatime. It was one of the few milk tea places I have recently discovered and found to like. I would like to recommend this awesome tea place which I hope that I get to visit again once I'm in Manila. Chatime, besides it's good vibes and awesome service, it was ultimately the taste that had me at first try.

On my first try there and hopefully not that the last since the food and drinks are so good, I was only able to try one flavor and of course its Strawberry yogurt smoothie. The serving was hefty and it was fruity and delicious. Another add-on we ordered was the pork chop bits which were really tasty. I loved the balance of its saltiness and peppery-flavor...and believe anything with loads of pepper is scrumptious for my taste. And with the great experience I had there I am surely going to visit Chatime again as soon as I get a chance or see a branch. Which got me to researching that they have branches at Centris,Banawe, Pasig, Landmark Mall, Robinson's Galleria, San Juan, SM Mall of Asia, SM North Edsa and GAteway Mall. In knowing that they have numerous branches provides me the assurance that I can easily drop by and have a bubble tea or smoothie once I feel like taking a sip.

Food Oasis: Bannaple

Banapple is food heaven on earth!

This definitely I'm very sure of after going to the restaurant on endless times it almost made me wish that I would one day wake up and find it as part of our house kitchen. I promise all of you food there is to die for. To name a few the lasagna roll-ups, the pestos, the roasted beaf and omelets together with their wide array of scrumptous cakes, muffins and pies.

If you want to know about the taste that Banapple offers well to my palette it is impeccable. I guess it may eb a combination of insanely good chefs and the best ingredients. I may have not tried all their food but I will surely come back there and make sure that I do try everything and I mean everything.

The ambiance is really good too. The design of their restaurant is really beauty to the meaning of the word of it. The well lit rooms, the texture on the tables and the
intimate set-up of fixtures makes you all the more enticed to stay and dine.

urban food find: Mann Hann

It was during the remaining days of my stay in Manila for my summer internship. The feeling was bittersweet to leave the metro because I had yet to explore the many food wonders it had to offer but I had to cut it all short to come back to my home which was Bicol. Don’t get me wrong the idea of coming home was exuberating for me but I had become attached to the urban charm that Manila’s hustling and bustling streets, forever in rush pedestrians and gleaming lights of restaurants, food stall or street food vendor’s cart had me feeling depressed!

But I wouldn’t leave without going to one of my favorite food places which was Mann Hann. Well I guess you could coin the family feast we had at SM Mall of Asia Mann Hann to be “The Last Supper” I would have in Manila at least for the moment because for sure I would many chances to return and dine there again.
Dining there was hands down one of the best meal experiences I had with my family, well what would you expect it is a Chinese restaurant after all. I don’t know about you guys but in most Chinese restaurants I have gone to eat, my stomach never got disappointed rather I would always crave for more. It always had me wondering what was in their cuisine that made it irresistibly delicious both for the western and eastern foodies.

In fact when we ordered at Mann Hann we couldn’t help but keeping asking for more and boy was I glad that my parents were there to handle the monetary damage the bill would create We did order a hefty meal after all! To think that we had Crispy Pata, Nilagang Baka and Lumpiang Shanghai, Yang Chow just for the main course then had Chocolate and Ube cake for dessert not to mention the Watermelon and Mango shakes we had to gulp down the heavy meal with!

I was one happy child after that, it sure was one of the best ways my parents showed signs of affirmations for a job well done during my internship. It’s not hard to make me happy just sit me in front of a good meal, have my stomach full of it and you’ll hear no words at all rather you’ll just have me beaming with a smile on my face 
But no question paying good money for a satisfying meal was all worth it and besides you wouldn’t feel robbed of your cash at all because feeding five people with a huge appetite and leaving the restaurant pleased and feeling like you’ re on cloud nine is a priceless dining experience!

urban food find: Army Navy

If you got a hefty appetite that surpases the one of a sailor or of a soldier

then Army navy's definitely a place you have to visit. I tell you I have been to just two of their branches in Metro Manila and I was surely blown away by the line up of tasty burgers, Quesadilla, Burritos, Tacos, Freedom Fries, Milkshakes and Libertea available for my happy consumption!

I was automatically drawn to the place because I was an avid burger and french fries lover so when it was time again to adhere to the sweet sound of my growling and ever-hungry stomach I immediately scouted for the best food find and got introduced to one of the store's branches at SM North Edsa. There you could also have the backyard feel while eating out at the Skygarden where the store is specifically located.

The eating experience at Army Navy is more than just about the good food rather it's also about the amazing chill ambiance that the store's aesthetics provides. In fact after going to the place and taking a bite over their burger and crunchy onion rings and having to gulp it down with the sweet zen taste of Strawberry Milkshake, I immediately decided that I had to go back for another bite before I return home.

In my second stop at Army Navy, this time at the Tomas Morato branch in Quezon City. Walking home from work, I couldn't resist not passing by to grab a bite. This time I was determined to try their Quesadilla and yet again they did not disappoint my taste buds. The Steak Quesadilla had bits of beef meat, onions and tasty sauce all wrapped into a tender Quesadilla wrap sided with sweet salsa dip which you could spread over the Quesadilla before taking a mouth-watering bite!

Surely if you do love good tasting comfort foods and you are looking for a great place just to hang-out with your friends over a casual feast then you should definitely should check out if there's an Army Navy branch near you because surely as soon as I find one I will automatically open the doors and have an order up!

urban food find: 4 fingers

It was quite the irony when my search for new and good food finds led me to the most old and ordinary favorite of every living, breathing and eating human being, I am talking of none other than the Fried Chicken. If you have a conversation with a kid or either a grown adult they will surely have this as one of the food that frequently appears on their table but there are those unusual exceptions of course, for those people who either can't eat chicken due to frustrating allergies to it or there's the other reason of just simply disliking chicken (which makes you appear abnormal to the majority of the people who absolutely have chicken as their comfort food of all time!)

But it's not those people that this post is going to worry about, it is more of the issue of how can a food of this sort regain the element of surprise it will provide to its lovers? I already thought nothing could erase the typical taste of fast food joint's fried chicken in your tongue. Thankfully through a stroll at Sm North Edsa with my friends, we were able to negate my old theory. There we were able to go to this awesome restaurant named 4 Fingers.

I could even quantify how amazing the eating experience was at the 4 Fingers. We were immediately bombarded with countless food choices as the restaurant was not just serving crispy chicken with rice; the 4 Fingers also serve chicken burger, chicken chops, fries, chicken wrap, calamari and shrimp and many more. The other good news is besides the good taste that the restaurant offers, they also serve it at a good price!A 100 pesos to 300 pesos will already provide a hefty meal for you or a couple of your friends depending on your appetite of course.

The taste was really good! The flavor of the crispy chicken had an awesome blend of sweet and spicy with a unique flavor that I have only tasted from 4 Fingers. Other than the
taste the aesthetics of the place was pretty creative as artistic graffiti filled the walls of the restaurant, the lighting and fixtures also added a New York street vibe to the place. All in all it was a combination of good tasting food and the hip design of 4 Fingers restaurant that will keep you coming for more :) Like what the brand says: truly a best kept secret but I say it's now worth sharing!

urban food find: Mochi Creme Japanese Ice Cream

In the quest to find new food discoveries available in the Philippine market, it was during a stroll in SM North Edsa that my friends and I were able to stumble upon Mochi Creme Japanese Ice Cream.

The food experience was certainly a pleasing one. At first we were hesitant in trying Mochi Creme Japanese Ice Cream but I guess in the end curiosity took over the fear we all felt. I took a bite of their Strawberry flavor and to my surprise it tasted great! It created an explosion of the sweet and delectable strawberry flavor in my mouth not to mention the fluffy texture of the outer doe made out of Japanese rice. In fact it was so good I wish I could be able to taste their other flavors like: Mango, Black Sesame, Purple Yam, Chocolate, Blue Vanilla, Anibi Red Bean and Green Tea.

I do hope a branch will open in a store near us but for the meantime for those who would like to give this delectable surprise a try visit their branches at: SM North Edsa(3rd Level of The Block), SM Megamall(3rd Level of Megamall Bldg. A), SM Mall of Asia(2nd Level Main Mall) The Pondium, Abreeza Mall (Davao City), SM Davao City.

Metro Food Escapade

Summer this year was quite an experience, for it was no longer the typical vacation rather we had to work for our school internship. Being in Manila for my internship at Storyline ABS-CBN was an exciting and memorable experience on its own but it was made better with new travel and food discoveries I have made. It is imperative after all that when you are in a new place you always figure out new places to go to but more importantly new food finds to delight your palette.

My desire to find delectable dishes took me to the most typical food locations such as the different malls in the metro but there were also those amazing streets where restaurants and cafes were lined up just waiting to be discovered and enjoyed by food lovers just like me.

Every new dish that I tried had this simple of way of completing my day and made a lasting great impression in my mind.

I am a person who is more than just a glutton rather I am a person who loves food because of the feeling of satisfaction it gives and how it finds a way to make people come together to dine and have an amazing personal and lasting memory may be it be on their own or with people whom they enjoy having company with.
